Scope and Contents
The S. G. Davidson Papers, 1860-1861, consist of correspondence between Davidson and his wife Mary regarding Austin at the time of Secession and frontier defense during the Civil War. The collection also includes photostat of an 1861 Belton newspaper.

Biographical Note
S. G. and Mary Davidson had several children and lived in Belton, Texas. During the Civil War, Capt. Davidson served under Lt. Col. T. C. Frost in the First Mounted Rifles Regiment of the Confederate Army. While stationed at Fort Chadbourne, he died during a skirmish with Native Americans in June 1861.
