Scope and Contents
Three copies of a bound typescript compose the Herbert H. Lang Narrative, undated, documenting his research on the 19th century historian Henderson King Yoakum. The narrative consists of a biographical account of Yoakum, discussing his career as an historian and his various publications.

Biographical Note
Born to Estelle and Edward Lang in New York City, Herbert H. Lang (1921-2006) served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war, he enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving his PhD in history in 1954. Lang taught at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico, until he became a faculty member at Texas A & M University in 1956. He authored an introduction to Pat Nixon of Texas: Autobiography of a Doctor as well as articles on the Western U. S. frontier and mining industry.
