The Elizabeth Ann Bertrand Austin papers consist of hand-written family reminiscences of Elizabeth Ann Bertrand Austin. The papers, titled "Family reminiscences of our mother Elizabeth Ann Austin," document family history of the Austin and Bertrand families, of Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Cuba. Family members include her husband William Tennant Austin, a civil servant in the Republic of Texas, and Peter Bertrand.

Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Ann Bertrand Austin was born near Richmond, Scott County, Kentucky, in 1817. She married William Tennant Austin in 1836, in Brazoria, Texas. At the time, he was in the Voulnteer Army of Texas. She died in 1903 in Galveston, Texas.
