Biographical Note

Robert Harris Archer was a physician in Maryland. He and his wife Mary Stump Archer had seven children, two of whom, John and Stevenson, emigrated to Texas in 1846, along with John's wife Ann and their eight children. John farmed and raised sheep in Texas, while Stevenson became a surveyor in Texas and New Mexico, where he also acquired an interest in a silver mine.
